Anthony Millerick’s spell in charge of Pitching In Southern League Premier Division South club Hartley Wintney came to a fitting end on Tuesday night as his team lifted the Aldershot Senior Cup.

The Row beat Combined Counties League Premier Division South side Fleet Town 5-2 at Aldershot Town’s EBB Stadium.

Millerick’s side made a great start and were ahead after 21 minutes when Adam Allen went through and rounded the Fleet `keeper before rolling the ball into the back of the net.

Just 4 minutes later it was 2-0 with a neat finish from Kingsley Eshun from close range.

And then, 5 minutes after half-time, Kyen Nicholas added the Row’s third after good work from Eshun.

Just past the hour-mark, Hartley Wintney made sure the trophy was there’s when Nicholas bagged his second of the game after being presented with an open goal after a great run and cross from Lucias Vine.

On 68 minutes, Fleet reduced the deficit with a goal from Dan Bone on the breakaway.

But 4 minutes later, Kofi Holliday made it a nap hand for the Row when he scored against his former club.

Fleet did manage to pull a second back with Bone bagging his brace with a header.

However, it was Hartley Wintney who gave their long-serving manager a fitting send off.

Millerick originally joined the Row in 2015/16 as joint manager with Dan Turkington.

In his first four seasons at the club, he helped steer the North Hampshire outfit to two league titles, two promotions taking the club from Step 5 to Step 3 in the non-League pyramid, a Southern League play-off final win, a Hampshire Senior Cup semi-final, and lifting the Aldershot Senior Cup.

Since taking sole charge of the club, perhaps his major achievement to date was in putting together the playing and backroom staff who collectively earned a hugely impressive eighth place finish in the club’s first season at Step 3 in the Premier Division South, and 2021/22 saw them finish 18th.
